Whew I just realized I never updated my journal about Sakuracon! I'm getting so bad at this. Anyway yeah that was back at the beginning of April, and I must say it was the easiest and least-stressful Sakuracon yet. No one bailed last minute, we never lost any member of the group, didn't have to deal with any minors. We did have a few people get sick, though that's expected every year. None of our group had much money to spare this year, so we didn't come home with much. I got a Death Note wall scroll that I won in a raffle, ~
CVizzle bought season 1 of Bleach, and both of us loaded up on candy from Uwajimaya. I also bought a Jurassic Park shirt that I've been meaning to get for years now.
Unfortunately ~
CVizzle felt ill on the last day of the con, and miraculously I survived the whole trip without getting sick. I thought I was home free, but a few days afterward I started showing the same signs. Man I tell you that was one crappy cold/flu/whatever. Being gone the first week of April for planning and Sakuracon, and then being gone the 2nd week because of illness really put me behind my work schedule, I'm still trying to catch up!
Another thing we bought at con was a booster box of HGSS Pokemon cards. Upon opening them after arriving home, we discovered the entire booster box to be full of fake cards. The vendor that sold us the cards had a website, but the website was down so we drive to their store in Centralia... to find the entire place completely vacated. We definitely got swindled hardcore guys. I sent an email to the person in charge of SC vendors, but let this be a lesson. Always check out your merch before going home. Now I've got 36 packs of fake cards and can't do anything with them. On a completely unrelated note, anyone want to buy some Pokemon cards? (jk jk).
I went to SC in my usual Kilala cosplay, but this year I also brought along my simple Persian ears and tail I made a while ago. Since ~
Sugar-Storm cosplayed as a pokemon trainer, we had a lot of fun goofing around with poses. I also attended a Pokemon photo shoot, you can see me here right below Giovanni who looks like he's eating a pokeball or something:

CVizzle went as Fry from Futurama, which turned out phenomenal I must say:

~
Sugar-Storm also took a rather artsy picture on her phone camera:

And before anyone asks, YES that is actually his real hair! I have been dying my hair since I was about 7 years old so I'm pretty gosh darn thorough about it when dying other people's hair. I also made the 7 leaf clover he's wearing. I don't remember seeing any other Futurama cosplayers there except another Fry and a Zoidberg.
Anyway, that's it for Sakuracon. A few days ago ~
CVizzle and I went to the drive-in to see Hunger Games and 21 Jump Street. I had pretty low expectations for Hunger Games because it's kind of a tradition for movies to completely butcher the books they are based off of. But no, other than cutting some of the minor characters, it followed the book really well! I can't say I was disappointed in the movie, but I wasn't impressed by it either. I felt a lot of the story was glazed over, but I suppose that's just something that happens when you transition from book to movie.
21 Jump Street on the other hand was stupidly hilarious even though 80% of the movie was just penis jokes. I can't say much about it other than it's probably meant for older audiences that are into toilet humor. Thankfully any of the crude scenes were kept short and to a minimum.
Well that's the extent of my movie critiquing abilities, hopefully we'll go back soon to catch The Avengers! :0 Later y'all
